Hartford, November 24, 2004: The Hartford Wolf Pack have recalled Dwight Helminen from the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL. The Hancock, Michigan native was one of the last players to be assigned to North Carolina at the beginning of the season after suffering a sprained ankle during training camp.

This season, Helminen has played in 10 games with the Checkers, tallying four goals and four assists. The former University of Michigan center was acquired from Edmonton along with Steve Valiquette, in March of last season.

The 5-10, 189 pound forward is expected to join the team by week's end and may play against Bridgeport on Friday. The Pack's next home game is Saturday, versus the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. Last time the Pack and Penguins met on Civic Center ice, it was for game seven of the 2003-04 Conference final. Hartford also faces the Penguins this evening in Pennsylvania, before heading to Bridgeport for game three of the GEICO Connecticut Cup series on Friday night.

The AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack hockey club is part of Madison Square Garden LP. Cablevision Systems Corporation owns a controlling interest in MSG LP, which also includes the New York Rangers (NHL), New York Knicks (NBA), the New York Liberty (WNBA), the MSG Network, Fox Sports Net and the Madison Square Garden arena complex.
