Springfield, MA, January 9, 2009: The Hartford Wolf Pack and the Springfield Falcons battled through three scoreless periods Friday at the MassMutual Center, but Artem Anisimov's goal at 3:05 of overtime gave the Wolf Pack a 1-0 win.

Matt Zaba made a Wolf Pack season-high 40 saves in the game to post his first career AHL shutout, while Jeff Deslauriers, on a conditioning assignment to Springfield from parent-club Edmonton, stopped 30 shots in the Falcon net.

On the winning play, a pass off left wing by P.A. Parenteau in the Springfield zone was deflected by Brian Fahey to Anisimov at the blue line. Anisimov stickhandled up the slot to just above the hash marks before snapping a shot past Deslauriers' catching glove.

It was the second straight visit to Springfield in which Anisimov scored the winner in overtime. He also notched the OT winner in a 4-3 Hartford win December 27.

The victory raised the Wolf Pack's record to a season-best four games above .500, 19-15-2-3 for 43 points, and moved them into a second-place tie with Portland in the Atlantic Division.

Despite eight power plays per team, neither club was able to score in regulation. The best chance for either side was a two-minute five-on-three power play for Springfield that started at 18:59 of the second period, when Parenteau was called for diving, and Brodie Dupont picked up a high-sticking penalty as a result of a post-whistle scrum. But Zaba held the Falcons off for the entire two-minute advantage.

Four of the five games between the Wolf Pack and Falcons this year have gone to overtime, and the Wolf Pack are now 3-1-0-1 in the season series.
