
Wizards Defeat Sioux Falls To Move Home Record To 6-1

The Dakota Wizards returned to the friendly confines of the Bismarck Center to face a familiar opponent on Sunday Afternoon. Sioux Falls played their fourth game of the season at Dakota, and it was the two teams' sixth meeting overall. The home team has won each of the games played, including a Sioux Falls 133-128 overtime win on Friday night.
Dakota used an 11-0 run to start the game to open up a huge lead in the first quarter. Romel Beck scored twelve points in the first period to help Dakota go ahead by as much as 32-18. The Wizards finished the frame up 32-21.
Sioux Falls answered with a 10-0 run of its own in the second period. Michael Joiner warmed up, notching twelve points in the second to help cut the Wizard lead to two points at the half. Overall, Sioux Falls outscored Dakota 35-26 in the period. Dakota's Beck added 14 more points in the quarter, giving him 26 heading into the locker room.
Former D-League Defensive Player of the Year Renaldo Major went on the offensive for Dakota in the third. He converted 4-4 from the field and was also a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line, giving him a total of twelve points in the frame. As a whole, the Wizards shot 62.5% from the field in the third period, again opening up a huge 94-75 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Dakota continued its hot shooting ways in the final period, converting 61.1% of its chances. Major and Jimmie Binnie each scored nine points for the Wizards in the fourth. A solid Dakota effort on the defensive end also helped limit Sioux Falls to 38.1% shooting in the final frame. The Wizards ended up running away with an easy 122-97 win.
Romel Beck's 28 points, 26 coming in the first half, led the way for Dakota. Renaldo Major was also a huge contributor, adding a season-high 25 points as well as four rebounds and four assists. Six Skyforce players finished in double figures in the loss.
Up next for Dakota are six more games at home, including Thursday's showdown with Eastern Conference leader Iowa. Sioux Fall's next contest will also be against the Energy, this one taking place Tuesday in Sioux Falls.
