Iowa's Martin Called-Up To Golden State Warriors

NEW YORK, Jan. 10, 2010 - The Golden State Warriors today signed Cartier Martin of the Iowa Energy. Martin is the fifth GATORADE Call-Up of the 2009-10 NBA Development League Season and joins 64 other NBA players with NBA D-League experience.

Martin has appeared in 12 games for Iowa this season, nine as a starter and is averaging 14.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists. He has scored in double figures on nine occasions, recording a season-high 25 points during a road victory over the Erie BayHawks on Dec. 27. 2009.

During the summer of 2009, Martin was a member of the Warriors Summer League Team in Las Vegas, where he averaged 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.33 steals and 1.00 block in 29.3 minutes over three games.

Martin returns to the NBA regular season following a GATORADE Call-Up to the Charlotte Bobcats from the Energy last season. In 33 games during the 2008-09 season, Martin scored 86 points and grabbed 26 rebounds.

A four-year contributor and three-year starter at Kansas State, Martin averaged 17.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists during his senior season when he was named All-Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year and earned a spot on the NABC All-NCAA District 12 Second Team.

Martin is expected to join the Warriors this afternoon and be available tomorrow night when the team hosts the Cleveland Cavaliers.
