New Jersey Jackals general manager Ben Wittkowski has been named the Can-Am League's Executive of the Year, as voted upon by league managers.

In his first year with the club, the Jackals have drawn 113,666 fans through their first 47 home games and are on pace to break last year's attendance mark by over 12,000.

After graduating from East Tennessee State University with a degree in sports management, Wittkowski began his career in professional baseball as the Assistant GM of the Burlington Indians, the rookie-league affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The following season, Wittkowski was promoted to GM, where he was honored by the Appalachian League with the "Larry McPhail Award" for excellence in marketing and promotions. The following year, Wittkowski was honored as the Appalachian League's "Executive of the Year." The award, which reflects the overall quality of a team's operation, is voted on by the league's general managers.

In 2003, Wittkowski joined the Northeast League's North Shore Spirit. He spent two years overseeing the Spirit organization prior to joining the Jackals and Floyd Hall Enterprises.

Wittkowski said, "This is quite an honor to be named the Executive of the Year. I respect the individuals who vote on this award, and it is nice to know that they respect the work we have done as an organization in New Jersey."

"This could not have happened if it was not for the great staff and ownership group in New Jersey. We did great things this year, building upon what was an already impressive tradition. However, we look to improve in the years to come and I feel that with the people around, we will continue to become even better."
