
North Shore defeats Grays 1-4

In game one, Vic Davilla homered twice and drove in four as the Spirit out slugged the Grays 11-4.
John Kelly allowed one earned run over five innings to collect his league-leading 12th win of the year. Jodie Kennedy (3-9) took the loss after surrendering six runs over three plus innings.
The Grays opened the scoring in the bottom of the first. Leadoff hitter Scott Grimes reached on an error by Cleatus Davidson. Three batters later, Mark Burke picked up his team-leading 53rd RBI of the season with a sacrifice fly to centerfield.
The Spirit responded with a pair of runs in the top of the second. Brian Macchi singled and moved to second when Alex Trezza was hit by a pitch. After a sacrifice bunt by Davidson put two runners in scoring position, BJ Weed gave North Shore the 2-1 lead with a line drive basehit down the line in left. RBI doubles by Davilla and Macchi in the third increased the Spirit's advantage to three runs.
North Shore broke the game open in the fourth when they sent nine men to the plate and scored five times. Davilla continued terrorize CANAM league pitching with a two-run homer, his 22nd of the season. Macchi collected his third hit in as many at bats, an RBI double to the gap in right-center.
The Grays inched closer with single runs in the fourth and fifth. Charles Peterson and Brad Hargreaves chipped in RBI doubles for the visitors.
In the top of the sixth, North Shore pushed their lead back to eight runs thanks to Davilla's second homerun of the night, a solo shot to left, and a sac fly from Weed.
