The Can-Am League has named North Shore 1B Vic Davila and Grays RHP Mike Henry its SLAM Baseball Batter and Pitcher of the Month, respectively, for the month of August.

In 24 games for North Shore, Davilla, also the Can-Am League's Player of the Week for August 1-7, hit .398 with 19 runs scored, seven doubles, seven home runs and 30 RBI for a .657 slugging percentage as the Spirit went 15-9 during the month. The New York City native is currently eighth in the league with a .326 average, second with 21 home runs and 78 RBI and fifth with a .523 slugging percentage.

2005 is Davilla's thirteenth season in professional baseball. A 26th-round pick of Toronto in 1993 out of Westchester Community College, the 32-year-old spent four seasons in the Blue Jays organization, reaching as high as single-A. He has been in independent baseball since 1997, also playing for Adirondack, Albany-Colonie and Allentown of the Northeast League/Northern League East. Last season, his first in North Shore, Davilla was fourth in the league with a .330 average to go along with 14 home runs and 56 RBI.

In four starts for the Grays, Henry went 3-0 with a miniscule 0.75 ERA, giving up just two earned runs in 24 innings pitched. He threw two complete games and one shutout while striking out 21 and walking just six. After splitting time this season between the Grays and Brockton, the 26-year-old is 7-2 with a 3.99 ERA in eighteen appearances for the two teams.

The San Angelo, Texas, native is in his fourth season of professional baseball, all of them in independent leagues. He spent 2002 and 2003 with Richmond of the Frontier League before moving on to San Angelo of the Central League and Brockton of the Northeast League last year, where he went 11-6 between the two clubs.
