North Shore Spirit News Release

Olmo Rosario homered and the Nashua Pride scored five runs in the top of the first inning and hung on for a 6-4 win over the North Shore Spirit , clinching the Can-Am league championship at Fraser Field.

The Pride scored early against Spirit starter Luis Arroyo. With one out, Jermy Acey singled and rode home on a two run homer by Olmo Rosario to give the Pride a 2-0 lead. After a strikeout of Chris Colabello, Nashua loaded the bases on a walk to Luis Rodriguez and an error allowing Brian Duplissie to reach, followed by Jason Crosland being hit by a pitch. Jack Joffrion then ripped a bases clearing double to make it 5-0.

Vic Davilla then got the Spirit on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the first to cut it to 5-1, and the Spirit inched closer to make it 5-2 on a Luis Lopez sacrifice fly in the third.

The Pride would make it 6-2 in the sixth, but the Spirit would claw back for single runs in the eighth and ninth, as Josue Lopez homered, a solo shot, in the eighth, and an RBI single by Luis Lopez in the ninth. Rich Garces came on in the ninth to end it by retiring Nelson Teilon on a deep fly ball to center.
