Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
BELOIT, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers had an early 1-0 lead on Saturday night at ABC Supply Stadium but couldn't add on to it or make it stand. The Beloit Snappers tied the game in the fifth and took the lead in the sixth as their two pitchers held Wisconsin to three hits and combined for twelve strikeouts in a 4-1 victory. The win was the fourth in a row for the Snappers over the Rattlers.
Wisconsin (38-44) scored in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. Chad McClanahan doubled to start the inning. Antonio Piñero moved McClanahan to third with a flyout to center. Joe Gray Jr. drove in McClanahan with a grounder.
The Snappers (39-44) tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-out, solo home run by Ynmanol Marinez.
Beloit took the lead in the bottom of the sixth. Connor Scott started the inning with a triple and Victor Victor Mesa reached on an infield single to put runners on the corners. Kameron Misner made it 2-1 with a single to left.
Thomas Jones was next and he bunted. The throw to first was wild and that allowed Mesa and Misner to score while Jones wound up at second base.
George Soriano, the Beloit starting pitcher gave up a single to Carlos Rodríguez to start the top of the seventh before he got a 6-4-3 double play. That ended Soriano's night. He allowed one run on three hits with four walks and eight strikeouts over 6-2/3 innings.
Cody Mincey entered the game for Soriano and retired all seven Rattlers he faced to close out the game and pick up his first save.
The loss dropped Wisconsin to six games under .500 for the first time this season.
The final game of the series is Sunday afternoon. Freisis Adames (1-4, 6.91) is the scheduled starting pitcher for Wisconsin. The Snappers have slated Jake Walters (2-2, 3.67) as their starter. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05pm. The radio broadcast is on AM1280, WNAM and internet audio starting with the pregame show at 1:45pm.
