Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

BELOIT, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers missed on their opportunities while the Beloit Sky Carp cashed in on theirs Sunday afternoon at ABC Supply Stadium. The result was a 3-2 victory for the Sky Carp and their second straight win over the Rattlers. Wisconsin won four of the six games in the series.

The first three Timber Rattlers of the game reached on two walks and a hit batsman to load the bases. However, a strikeout and a 6-4-3 double play meant Wisconsin (6-3) missed on an early opportunity to put a big number on the scoreboard in the first inning.

The Timber Rattlers (6-3) took advantage of a hit batsman and an error to take the lead in the top of the second. Ernesto Martínez Jr. was hit by a pitch and Tristan Peters singled to right to start the inning. Martínez stole third while Kelly held at first. Kelly stole second on the next pitch and the throw to second skipped into center to allow Martínez to score from third base.

Beloit (2-7) took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Tanner Allen, who drove in the winning run for the Sky Carp in the bottom of the ninth on Saturday night, tripled to start the inning. Davis Bradshaw knocked in Allen with a one out triple. Nasim Nunez sent Bradshaw across the plate with a sacrifice fly to right and the Rattlers were down 2-1.

Both starting pitchers were out of the game after five innings. Wisconsin starter Antoine Kelly allowed two runs on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Beloit starter Zach King allowed a run on a hit with two hit batsmen, four walks, and eight strikeouts. Neither starter was involved in the decision.

Noah Clarke started the Wisconsin sixth inning with a double against reliever Justin Evans, but he was still standing there with two outs. A passed ball got Clarke to third base and a wild pitch scored him with the tying run.

The Sky Carp went back in front in the bottom of the sixth against Miguel Guerrero. The first two batters reached on a single and a walk. Guerrero struck out the next two batters and almost got out of the jam. Then, Allen singled to left to drive home the runner from second base for a 3-2 advantage.

In the ninth, Wisconsin loaded the bases again. This time they did it with one out on a single and two walks. However, Beloit closer Robinson Martinez escaped on a shallow fly to left and a strikeout to end the game and preserve the Beloit victory.

Beloit pitchers combined to walk eight and strikeout fifteen in the game. Wisconsin hitters went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position and stranded nine runners on Sunday afternoon. Both of Wisconsin's runs were unearned.

The Timber Rattlers are off on Monday. They return to action on Tuesday night with game one of a series against the Quad Cities River Bandits. Justin Jarvis (0-0, 7.56) is the scheduled starting pitcher for Wisconsin. Game time is 6:40pm.

Tuesday night is the first NEW Manufacturing Alliance/Y100 Bang for Your Buck Night. All fans may enjoy Cher-Make hotdogs and 16-ounce Pepsi Products for $2. Fans of legal drinking age may purchase 16-ounce domestic beers for $2, too.

If you can't make it to the ballpark, there are several ways to follow the Timber Rattlers action. The radio broadcast is on AM1280, WNAM and on internet audio starting with the pregame show at 6:20pm. Tuesday's game is also available to subscribers of MiLB.tv.
