Winterhawks Shut Out Silvertips, 2-0

Portland, OR - Mac Carruth collected 22 saves to collect his first shutout of the season and lead the Portland Winterhawks to a 2-0 victory over the Silvertips Wednesday night. Kent Simpson made 36 saves in goal for Everett turning in a strong performance for the Silvertips.

Teal Burns collected his first career WHL goal in the second period at the 7:50 mark. Oliver Gabriel stick handled in the slot before being stopped by Simpson. Burns, on the power play, knocked in the rebound to give Portland a 1-0 lead. Sven Bartschi scored on the power play to give the Winterhawks a 2-0 lead. Coming at 16:29 of the second period, Bartschi scored with a snap shot from the left circle.

The Silvertips could only collect four shots in the third period as Carruth earned the shutout and the Winterhawks claimed victory, 2-0.

This brings the 'Tips record to 5-3-1-1 with 12 points in 10 games played. Everett continues their road trip this Friday October 22nd heading up to Kelowna, British Columbia to face-off against the Rockets at 7:05pm.
