Calgary, AB - The 2009-10 Western Hockey League regular season enters its third weekend of action in October with 19 games on the schedule for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

In Edmonton, AB, Sunday is Autograph Sunday when the Oil Kings host the Kootenay Ice. Fans can get autographs from their favorite Oil Kings players as well as participate in a post-game skate at Rexall Place.

In Portland, OR, some lucky fans will have the chance to pocket some big bucks in the Dash For Cash on Friday night when the Winterhawks host the Seattle Thunderbirds.

In Prince Albert, SK, fans can pack their skates to the Art Hauser Center on Sunday and hit the ice with the Raiders for RBC Community Skate Sunday .

In Saskatoon, SK, fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to Saturday's contest between the Blades and the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers in support of the 'Together is Amazing' campaign.

In Vancouver, B.C., Friday night is Date Night when the Giants welcome the Brandon Wheat Kings. One lucky fan will walk away with a trip for two to Hawaii.

TEAM WHL ROSTER AND COACHING STAFF ANNOUNCED...

CALGARY, AB - The Canadian Hockey League in association with the Western Hockey League and the Kamloops Blazers and Prince George Cougars Hockey Clubs this week announced the rosters and the coaching staff for Team WHL that will compete against Team Russia in the 2010 SUBWAY(r) Super Series.

LETHBRIDGE TO HOST 2011 ALBERTA CUP...

Lethbridge, AB - Hockey Alberta officially announced Wednesday that Lethbridge, Alberta will host the 2011 Alberta Cup. The Lethbridge hosting group is made up of Lethbridge Minor Hockey Association, Lethbridge Hurricanes and the University of Lethbridge Alumni Hockey Association. The Alberta Cup will take place at the Nicholas Sheran Arena, April 13-17, 2011.

PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS' DEAN CLARK EARNS WIN NO. 400...

Brett Connolly scored twice and Nick Buonassisi chipped in three assists to lead the Prince George Cougars to a 5-3 win over the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings in Western Hockey League action on Wednesday.

The victory marks Cougars' head coach Dean Clark's 400th career WHL victory. Clark becomes the 12th head coach in WHL history to reach the 400-win plateau, joining such WHL coaching legends as Ken Hodge, Pat Ginnell, Ernie McLean and current WHL coaches Don Hay, Don Nachbaur and Lorne Molleken.

ONE-ON-ONE WITH RYAN NUGENT-HOPKINS...

Red Deer Rebels' 17-year-old star Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is considered one of the brightest prospects for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. The Burnaby, B.C., product, who was named the WHL Rookie of the Year last season, chatted with the WHL's Cory Flett about the Rebels' season, the NHL draft, and his busy summer.

KEY WEEKEND MATCH-UPs...

Prince George Cougars vs Tri-City Americans Friday, Oct. 22 & Saturday, Oct. 23 at Prince George.

Brett Connolly and the Prince George Cougars host Brooks Macek and the Tri-City Americans for a pair of games on the weekend.

The Cougars are coming off a 5-3 win over the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings on Wednesday for their third straight triumph, and currently find themselves among the top teams in the Western Conference. After struggling to the WHL's worst record last season, the Cougars are off to an impressive start. A pair of games versus perennial Western Conference powerhouse Tri-Cities will test just how far this Cougars team has come.

The Americans topped the visiting Calgary Hitmen 3-1 on Tuesday night in a rematch of the 2010 WHL Championship series, and have won four of their last five games. The Ams have posted a 4-1 record with top scorer Brendan Shinnimin out serving a suspension.

This weekend's meetings are the first of the season between the Ams and Cougars. The Americans won all four meetings versus Prince George last year, and are a whopping 18-2 versus the Cougars over the last five seasons.

Seattle Thunderbirds @ Portland Winterhawks Friday, Oct. 22

Ty Rattie and the Portland Winterhawks welcome Calvin Pickard and the Seattle Thunderbirds for a U.S. Division battle on Friday night.

The Winterhawks are coming off a 2-0 shutout victory over the visiting Everett Silvertips on Wednesday night for their third straight victory. Rattie stretched his point streak to six games with an assist in Wednesday night's victory over the 'Tips.

The Thunderbirds have been idle since dropping a 3-2 decision in overtime to the visiting Calgary Hitmen last Saturday, snapping a four-game winning streak. The Thunderbirds have allowed a Western Conference-low 22 goals through their first eight games of the season.

It's the third meeting of the season between the Hawks and T-Birds. The Thunderbirds won both previous meetings versus Portland, handing the Hawks two of their three losses this season.
