FLORES TOSSES GEM IN 3-2 WIN

Bernardo Flores registered his sixth consecutive quality start on Thursday, tying a career-high with eight innings pitched to lead the Dash to a 3-2 win over Myrtle Beach in the series finale at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. Flores, the Carolina League leader in innings pitched, allowed just one run on seven hits in the effort. The southpaw never threw more than 17 pitches in an inning. He struck out five and did not walk a batter en route to his eighth overall quality start on the season in 10 outings. Luis Basabe provided the big blow in the fifth inning with the contest tied at one. With two runners on, Basabe ripped a two-run double to put the Dash ahead 3-1. Matt Foster gave up a run in the ninth but locked down his fourth save of the year.

STELLAR STAFF

The Dash's pitching staff was stellar during their 4-3 road trip over the past week. Against the likes of Potomac and Myrtle Beach, Dash arms combined to post a 1.71 ERA (12 ER in 63.0IP). Dash starters were extremely impressive, posting six quality starts during the seven-day span, going 3-3 with a 1.58 ERA. Meanwhile, the bullpen went 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA and three-for-three in save opportunities.

RECAPPING THE MONTH OF MAY

After a 12-12 month of April, the Dash improved to go 17-13 in the month of May. Similar to the first month of the season, the pitching staff ranks third in the Carolina League in strikeouts (469) and ERA (3.57) at the month's end. However, the offense has fallen off a touch since the team's hot start at the plate. The team ranks eighth in the league in runs per game (4.2) after coming in second in the league in that category in April (4.7).

HOME HEAVY END TO THE FIRST HALF

After a road-heavy schedule to start the season, which has seen the Dash play 32 of their first 54 games on the road, Winston-Salem closes out the first half with 13 of its final 16 games at BB&T Ballpark. This stretch includes the team's current three-game series against the Carolina Mudcats, a three-game set against Salem (6/5-6/7), a three-game series against Myrtle Beach (6/11-6/13) and a four-game set against Wilmington (6/14-6/17).

IT'S ABOUT TO GET MUDDY

Friday marks the first game of the three-game set against the Carolina Mudcats, who are currently fourth in the Southern Division with a 27-26 record. The Dash are 4-4 against Carolina this season, having squared off against their Southern Division foe in a pair of four-game sets. Winston-Salem fell in three of four games at Five County Stadium to kick off the 2018 campaign, but the Dash got some revenge by taking three out of four from the Muddies in an eventful series from April 12-15.

NEEDING A LITTLE HELP

Right-hander Jimmy Lambert takes the hill in the series opener on Friday. The former fifth-round pick has strung together five consecutive starts of six or more innings, but he is only 2-3 during this span. Of the remaining members in the starting rotation, Lambert is receiving the worst run support, having seen his offense muster an average of 1.9 runs per contest over his eight starts. The former Fresno State Bulldog will be making his six career start against the Mudcats, who he has yet to record a win against. He is 0-4 with an 8.01 ERA against Carolina in his career.

DASH DOTS

The Dash first home game of the season was against the Carolina Mudcats on April 12. In that contest, Joel Booker stole home in the 10th inning to propel the Dash to a 3-2 victory...That same series saw Booker, Basabe, Micker Adolfo and Yermin Mercedes string together four homers in the eighth inning two days later.
