Homers Lead Hillcats to Shutout Win over Keys

Frederick, Md. - After being shutout in two of their last three games, the Lynchburg Hillcats were on the winning side of a shutout on Friday, beating the Frederick Keys, 4-0.
The Hillcats (26-25) improve to 6-3 against the Keys (23-30) this season.
Lynchburg broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning, when Trenton Brooks blasted a solo home run, his first of the season, to give the Hillcats a 1-0 lead.
The game stayed that way until the eighth inning. Mitch Longo led off the frame with an infield single and Jorma Rodriguez reached on a walk. That set up Conner Capel, who crushed a three-run home run, his fourth of the year, to cap the scoring and provide Lynchburg with some insurance.
The Hillcats picked up their sixth shutout win of the season on Friday.
Eli Morgan (Win, 2-0) cruised in his start against the Keys. The right-hander pitched 6.1 scoreless innings and allowed just three hits while striking out six. He retired 11 Frederick batters in a row at one point. Dalbert Siri (Save, 2) pitched 2.2 scoreless innings and struck out three to solidify the win.
Cristian Alvarado (Loss, 5-4) allowed one earned run on five hits in seven innings of work, striking out five. The lone run he allowed was the home run to Brooks. Mike Burke allowed the three-run homer to Capel in the eighth inning and Travis Seabrooke pitched a scoreless ninth.
The Hillcats road trip continues on Saturday with game two of the three-game set against the Keys. Right-hander Justin Garza (2-2, 2.43) will start for Lynchburg, opposite of righty Ofelky Peralta (1-5, 6.00) for Frederick. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Nymeo Field.
