OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION LEADS DASH

Behind 23 hits from the Dash offense, which tied a season-high, and a brilliant start from Kyle Kubat, Winston-Salem trounced Carolina 17-0 on Friday night at Five County Stadium in the series finale. Each starter in the lineup reached base at least twice, and eight players had two or more hits. On the mound, Kubat set a career-high with five innings pitched and 10 strikeouts in the effort. Meanwhile, Cameron Seitzer and Ian Clarkin each tossed two innings apiece to wrap up the shutout.

NOT A SHEEPISH EFFORT

Eight players for Winston-Salem posted multi-hit efforts on Friday. Here's who they were and what they did:

Luis Gonzalez: 3-for-6, two runs scored, RBI

Ti'Quan Forbes: 2-for-7, two runs scored, RBI

Mitch Roman: 4-for-6, run scored, 3RBIs

Gavin Sheets: 2-for-4, run scored, RBI

Yermin Mercedes: 2-for-4, HR, 3RBIs, three runs

JJ Muno (first High-A start): 4-for-6, HR (first career blast), 3RBIs

Yeyson Yrizarri: 2-for-5, two runs, two 2Bs

Nolan Brown (first High-A start): 3-for-6, 3RBIs; a homer shy of the cycle

MORE THAN GOOD FORTUNE

Friday's performance marked the third game of 20 or more hits for the Dash offense this season. Meanwhile, the Dash have now posted two games of 17 or more runs. To put it into historical context, Winston-Salem had only scored 17 runs or more in two games through the first nine seasons of the Dash era (2009-present). The Dash are atop the Carolina League in several offensive categories, including runs (519), doubles (201), triples (31), hits (905), RBIs (488) and slugging percentage (.423).

FRENEMIES

Following their series against Carolina, the Dash now continue their six-game road swing with a three-game set against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. The Dash are 7-2 against Myrtle this year.

NO REASON TO BE GRUMPY HERE

Gavin Sheets continued his recent success on Friday night with a 2-for-4 effort hitting in the five hole. Sheets has raised his batting average all the way to .296, and he is currently batting .372 in the second half of the season. A second-round pick by the White Sox out of Wake Forest in 2017, Sheets also has an on-base percentage of .372 for the season. A former second-round pick by the White Sox out of Wake Forest University, Sheets' 42 hits since June 21 are tied for the most in all of Minor League Baseball. Prior to joining the White Sox organization, Sheets was a three-year star at Wake, registering 21 homers and 84 RBIs in his final season in 2017.
