TONIGHT: The Mudcats begin a three game road trip tonight with game one of a three game series versus the Lynchburg Hillcats at City Stadium. Tonight's game is the 8th of 13 total meetings between the two teams this season. The Mudcats recently dropped three of four to the Hillcats late last week between 7/13 and 7/16 and trail the overall season series between the two teams 4-3.

ICYMI: The Mudcats allowed a franchise record 23 hits, including six doubles, a triple and two home runs in a 17-0 loss the Dash at Five County Stadium on Friday night. The loss dropped Carolina to 2.5 games back of first behind Winston-Salem in the second half playoff race.

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Mudcats set a franchise record after allowing 23 hits in last night's 17-0 loss the Dash at Five County Stadium. The previous record was 22 hits allowed and last occurred in 1998 (also occurred once in 1997 and 1996)... The 17 runs allowed in last night's loss were tied for the 3rd most allowed in a game in franchise history. The club record for runs allowed in a game is 20 and was set on 8/7/09 in a 20-9 loss at West Tenn.

STARTING OFF: After making a spot start with Triple-A Colorado Springs on July 15, LHP Cam Roegner returns to the Carolina starting rotation tonight in game one of a three game series in Lynchburg against the Hillcats. Roegner enters tonight's outing at 8-5 with a 2.38 ERA over 17 starts with the Mudcats this season. He has also totaled 65 strikeouts, 28 walks and a .246 average against over 98.1 innings pitched this season. Roegner ended up suffering the loss in his Triple-A debut with the Sky Sox on July 15 after allowing five earned runs on eight hits over 4.1 innings pitched. He also walked three and struck out four while reaching 89 pitches (59 strikes).

WHERE THEY RANK: RHP Conor Harber is currently 1st in the Carolina League in earned run average (2.23) and in batting average against (.209)... LHP Cam Roegner is currently 2nd in the Carolina League in earned run average (2.38), 3rd in innings pitched (98.1), tied for 2nd in wins (8), 5th in WHIP (1.18) and 4th among starters in fewest baserunners/9ip (10.89)... RHP Braden Webb is currently 6th in most strikeouts (88), tied for 4th in the CL in most walks (49), 4th among CL starters in lowest batting average against (.240) and tied for 3rd among starters in highest SO/9ip ratio (9.10)... RHP Luke Barker leads the Carolina League in saves (14), games (34) and games finished (26). Barker is also 3rd among CL relievers in lowest batting average (.190), 5th in highest strikeouts/9ip (9.26) and 5th in lowest BB/9ip ratio (2.12).

STELLAR D: Weston Wilson has been charged with only three errors this season and owns an overall .993 fielding percentage while playing 34 games at 1B, 13 games at 2B, 14 games at 3B and 34 games in the outfield this season... The Mudcats are currently 2nd in the CL in both team fielding (.978) and team caught stealing efficiency (.397).

TRENDING: Weston Wilson has hit safely in 17 of his last 19 games and is batting .422/.449/.676 with a 1.125 OPS since June 30 (30 H, 13 R, 4 2B, 1 3B, 4 HR, 21 RBI)... Cooper Hummel is batting .325/.431/.581 with a 1.013 OPS (14 H, 8 R, 5 2B, 2 HR, 7 RBI) since replacing an injured Tucker Neuhaus in the fourth inning of a home game versus the Keys on July 6. Hummel ended up going 1-for-2 with a two-run home run (eventual game winner in the seventh) in that same game and has not missed a start since.

MUDDIES ON THE POND: The Carolina offense is currently last in the CL when batting with runners on base (.234 / .670 OPS), last when batting with runners in scoring position (.231 / .682 OPS), 7th when batting with runners in scoring position with 2-outs in an inning. (.223 / .681 OPS) and 8th when batting with the bases loaded (.189 / .560 OPS).

HITS AND Ks: The Carolina offense has totaled 151 more strikeouts than hits (910 SO, 749 H) so far this season. Carolina's difference in strikeouts over hits is currently the 6th largest in MiLB. Since 1991, only the 2017 and 2007 Mudcats have finished a season with more strikeouts than hits. Carolina totaled 164 more strikeouts than hits in 2017 (1,245 SO [franchise record], 1,081 H) and 70 more strikeouts than hits in 2007 (1,219 SO, 1,149 H).

ALL THE Ks: The Mudcats offense has combined to total a CL high 910 strikeouts this season (on pace for 1,313 SO). The Carolina offense struck out a Carolina League and franchise record 1,245 times last season. The previous league record (per the 2017 Carolina League Media Guide) was 1,198 strikeouts and was set by the 1990 Lynchburg Hillcats.
