Wingnuts Shutout by Captains

SHREVEPORT, LA- The Wichita Wingnuts lost 4-0 to the Shreveport-Bossier Captains at Fair Grounds Field on Saturday night. Richard Paz hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the second that bounced off the very top of the left field fence to give Shreveport a 2-0 lead. The Captains added a run on a two-out RBI triple from Jose Torres in the bottom of the sixth.

Brad Davis pitched 5.2 IP, allowing three runs on six hits. Davis walked one and struck out three while taking his fifth loss of the season.

Ronald Lowe limited the Wingnuts to just four hits in seven innings, not allowing a run. Wichita had the bases loaded and no one out in the top of the seventh, but could not score. Patrick Brooks lined into a double play at second base and then Brenan Herrera was struck out by Lowe to end the inning.

The Captains scratched out another run in the bottom of the eight. Christopher Garcia leadoff with a double and was singled home by Andres Rodriguez, giving the Captains a 4-0 lead.

Jakob Cunningham kept the Wingnuts scoreless over the eighth and ninth to earn the save.

The Wingnuts wrap up their series with the Captains tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. Gabe Medina and Logan Williamson, both named All-Stars earlier today, will be on the mound.
