Pensacola's Randy Beam turned in a fantastic pitching performance as he tossed a one-hit shutout over El Paso. It was the first one-hitter in Pelicans team history. Beam struck out 10 and walked two to improve his record to 5-5 on the season. Leading just 2-0 in the bottom of the seventh, he got help from 2B Antoin Gray who deposited a homerun over the left centerfield wall to drive in three runs and seal the 5-0 win. LF Adam Darby was perfect from the plate for the Pelicans as he finished 3-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored. Josh Neitz pitched 6 2/3 innings for El Paso, allowed all five Pensacola runs, and dropped to 2-2 with the loss.

Shreveport-Bossier 4, Wichita 0

Captains starter Ronald Lowe turned in one of his best performances of the season thus far and 1B Chris Garcia sparked the offense to help Shreveport-Bossier blank Wichita 4-0. Lowe tossed seven scoreless innings in which he allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out three. He improved his record to 4-5 with the win. Garcia finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and 2B Rich Paz hit a two-run homer in the second inning to give Lowe an early cushion. Wichita's Brad Davis allowed three earned runs in 5 2/3 innings but took the loss to fall to 4-5.

Ft. Worth 12, Grand Prairie 11

In a game where each team scored double digit runs but there were more runs than hits, Ft. Worth outlasted Grand Prairie by a 12-11 score. They did so despite committing six errors in the contest. The Cats scored all their runs in the final five frames and rallied from 4-0, 8-4, and 10-7 deficits. Ft. Worth struck four homeruns in the game including two from RF Ryan Patterson. 3B Michael Bell did the most damage however as he left the yard as part of a 4-for-5 night that included five RBI and two runs scored. Grand Prairie 3B Cesar Nicolas, despite tallying just one hit in the contest, drove in five runs and reached base safely in four of his six plate appearances.

Sioux Falls 6, Lincoln 4

Sioux Falls used two unearned runs in the top of the eighth inning to snap a 4-4 tie and down Lincoln by a 6-4 final. Noel Baca pitched 6 1/3 innings for the Canaries and allowed three runs on six hits. Sioux Falls reliever Patrick Lawler got the win by tossing 1 1/3 scoreless innings. 3B Kyle Eveland had a solid game offensively as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored for the Canaries. Three other Sioux Falls players had multi-hit games. C Shawn McGill homered in a losing effort for the Saltdogs.

St. Paul 5, Sioux City 2

St. Paul got another solid outing from starter Brandon Kintzler and enough offense to get past Sioux City 5-2. Kintzler improved to 8-2 on the season as he allowed just two runs in six innings to get the win. Saints 1B Jason Cooper went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI while 3B Jeff Eure went 2-for-3 and LF Jacob Butler added two RBI. Sioux City C Brett Mieras led all hitters with a 3-for-4 night at the plate and drove in a run. Explorers starter Tyler Meigs went 5 2/3 innings but took the loss to drop to 0-5.
