Windy City takes down Evansville, 4-2

The Windy City ThunderBolts held the Evansville Otters to two runs on just five hits en route to a 4-2 win over Evansville.
Both teams scored their first run of the game thanks to defensive miscues from their opponent. With Marcus Spencer on second for the Bolts in the top of the second inning, Gilberto Mejia reached on an error by Javier Brown. Jeremy Strack had the ball roll up his arm in left, allowing Spencer to score and giving Windy City a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third inning, Marcus Rose reached on a three-base error. Brown came to the plate and hit a fly ball to right, Vinnie Scarduzio made the catch and delivered a perfect throw to home plate, but the ball jarred loose on the slide by Rose, tying the game at 1-1.
Windy City would break the tie in the bottom of the sixth as with Pete Paris on second, Wilson Matos swung through a 1-2 pitch for the apparent final out of the inning. However, the ball caromed off the glove of catcher Frank Meade, allowing Matos to race to first and Paris to advance to third. The mistake would be costly as Vinnie Scarduzio delivered a single up the middle to bring home Paris for a 2-1 ThunderBolts edge. Paris factored in the scoring again the seventh as with Robert Perry on first, the Windy City catcher drilled a ball into the right-centerfield gap, bringing Perry in to score for a 3-1 WC lead.
One more run would come in for the ThunderBolts in the ninth on a bases loaded walk by Bryan Cook and Evansville would score an unearned run in the bottom of the inning to cement the 4-2 final. The win went to Adam Dominick (2-3) who pitched 2.2 scoreless innings to earn the win. Matt Jernstad started and allowed just one unearned run on one hit over four innings. Nick Hall locked down his third save of the year. Andrew Werner (2-1) took the loss for Evansville.
