Florence Y'alls News Release

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - At least the Florence Freedom will have their manager back when they return home on Tuesday night to take on the Kalamazoo Kings.

Toby Rumfield's suspension ended after Monday night's game with his team going 0-5 while he was away.

Kevin Reese (7-4) tossed the first complete game shutout of his career, a 10 strikeout performance, and the Traverse City Beach Bums finished off a sweep of the Freedom with a 4-0 win.

Reese was perfect through the first four innings before Justin Pickett's one out double in the fifth broke it up.

The right-hander got support in the second inning after Florence's Chuck Tiffany walked to first two he faced. After a Tiffany wild pitch, Anthony D'Alfonso drove in what proved to be the game winning run with a sacrifice fly to left to score Andrew Barbaro, making it 1-0 Beach Bums.

Robby Alcombrack made it 3-0 Traverse City with his seventh home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the fifth.

Tiffany (0-1) was a 2003 second round draft pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2006, he underwent rotator cuff surgery on his left shoulder before landing with the Freedom at the end of July this season. It was his first start as a Freedom and the left-hander suffered the loss going five innings, allowing three runs on five hits with five strikeouts.

John Tesseyman allowed the final Beach Bum run in the eighth on a Barbaro sacrifice fly.
