(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters (22-14) overcame three separate deficits on Saturday night, clinching a 9-8 10th inning win on a walk-off single from infielder Phillip Wilson.

The rookie Wilson went 3-for-5 with his first career home run and his first career walk-off hit.

University of Southern Indiana alum Taylor Dennis got the spot start for the Otters and gave up just two runs in 4.2 innings pitched.

The Otters trailed 3-0 before Wilson's sixth inning two-run home run brought Evansville within a run. An RBI single from catcher Kolin Conner evened up the score in the seventh and a Cory Urquhart single later in the inning gave the Otters a 4-3 lead.

In this see-saw affair, Schaumburg started another rally in the eighth inning with a Brian McConkey two out walk. Catcher Michael Valadez then hit an infield pop-up that could have ended the inning but a few slipping Otters defenders were unable to catch the ball. Reliever Brandon Shimo then came in to the game but outfielder Bobby Martin hit a go-ahead three run homer to left field, his second of the night.

Down 6-4, Evansville tied the game in the ninth. Facing closer Dexter Price, the Otters had back to back RBI two-out singles from Urquhart and John Schultz to even up the score again. Price then recorded the final out, stranding the would be game winning run at third to force extra innings.

Closer Orlando Santos then came in to pitch for Evansville in the 10th but a sacrifice fly from Alexi Colon and a passed ball pushed Schaumburg ahead 8-6.

The Otters rallied one more time in the bottom of the ninth. They took advantage of a bobbled double play ball to put two men in scoring position with one out. J.R. Higley then hit a game-tying two run double to left field and Wilson won the game two batters later with his base hit to left field.

The win extends Evansville's season high winning streak to five games.

The Otters will go for the sweep on Sunday when it is WOW! Night at Bosse Field! Schaumburg will have RHP Seth Webster on the mound (2-2, 3.15 ERA). Evansville has yet to name a starter. Fans can call 812-435-8686 to purchase tickets. The game will be broadcast live on WUEV 91.5 FM.
