Marion, Ill. - The Southern Illinois Miners scored all seven of their runs back-to-back in the third, fourth and fifth innings and the bullpen held serve in a 7-4 win over the Traverse City Beach Bums at Rent One Park on Saturday night, the team's fourth straight win overall.

The Miners took full advantage of the Beach Bums' miscues in the field in taking the series by winning the first two games. Traverse City committed three errors in the contest, two of which led to five unearned runs against starter Casey Delgado (5-2) in the fourth and fifth innings combined.

The Beach Bums jumped out on top against winning pitcher Rick Teasley (5-0) on a solo homer from Yazy Arbelo in the second inning, but Chris Burke answered with two outs in the third with a broken-bat single that scored Tyler Booth and Jay Austin for a 2-1 Miners lead.

After Traverse City tied the game on another RBI by Arbelo, Southern Illinois took the lead for good on Phil Butler's deep ground-rule double to left-center after a leadoff error, making the score 4-2 Miners. They would score three more runs in the fifth, all unearned after a two-out error by Josh Miller at short plated one run and Booth's two-run single off Arbelo's glove at first scored the remaining two tallies. After a sac fly made it 7-4 in the sixth. The Beach Bums got the tying run to the plate two times in the seventh and eighth innings, but Derrick Miramontes struck out two in a 1-2-3 ninth for his 10th save.

Butler, Booth and Burke all had two RBIs in the contest, while Matt Howard and Ryan Cavan score two runs each. The win marked the longest win streak this season for the Miners since they won nine in a row from May 28th to June 6th, and also marked the 412th win for manager Mike Pinto, tying him with former Evansville skipper Greg Tagert for third place all-time in Frontier League history in career managerial wins.

The Miners go for the sweep on Sunday at 5:05 p.m., with Michael Carden on the mound against Traverse City's Ian MacDougall.
