May 3, 2016 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
Nick Williams' walk-off two-run shot in the bottom of the 10th lifted the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (13-11) to a 6-4 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox (12-13) on Tuesday night at Coca-Cola Park.
RHP Noe Ramirez (2.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER) was tagged with the loss for Pawtucket and drops to 0-2 on the year.
RHP Gregory Infante (1.0 IP, 2 H, BB) earned the win for the IronPigs and is now 2-0 on the season.
Chris Marrero's solo shot off of RHP Edward Mujica (1.1 IP, H, R, ER, K) with two outs in the top of the ninth tied things at four apiece for the PawSox.
Pigs starter Jake Thompson (n/d) gave up the one run on two hits while walking two and fanning four over seven innings of work. The 7.0 IP represents his longest outing at the Triple-A level.
The Pigs grabbed an early 3-0 lead with a three-run first against Pawtucket starter Eduardo Rodriguez. Tommy Joseph's two-run shot was the big blow in the inning and Andrew Knapp knocked in a run with a sac fly. The home run was Joseph's fifth of the season.
Rodriguez (n/d) surrendered the three runs on five hits while fanning three in 5.0 IP. The southpaw was making his second rehab start with the PawSox.
Pawtucket cut the lead to 3-1 with a run in the fifth as Justin Maxwell was hit by a pitch to start the inning and scored from first on Marrero's RBI double.
In the home half of the seventh, J.P. Arencibia led off with a double, advanced to third on a groundout and later scored on Taylor Featherston's two-out RBI single to give the IronPigs a 4-1 lead.
Trailing 4-1, the Red Sox cut the lead to 4-3 via a Deven Marrero two-run double off of RHP Luis Garcia (0.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB) in the top of the eighth.
Cam Perkins (2-5, 2 R) extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a single in the first. The 15-game hitting streak is the third longest in IronPigs franchise history.
The series wraps up on Wednesday at 10:35 a.m. as RHP Zach Eflin (3-0, 2.05) will be on the bump for the Pigs against Pawtucket LHP Brian Johnson (1-2, 2.25).
