Wild Things Split Double Header with Beach Bums

Washington PA - The Washington Wild Things split a double header with the Traverse City Beach Bums at CONSOL Energy Park Wednesday night.  Traverse City took the victory by a score of 3-1 in game one of the two-game bill, and Washington rallied in the bottom of the seventh to regain their lead and earn the win in game two with a score of 4-3.

In game one David Popkins went two-for-three and hit a home run to score Washington's only run in the seven inning contest.  Trevor Foss took the loss allowing three runs on six hit while striking out four in seven innings pitched.

In game two Washington walked in two scores.  Austin Wobrock walked on to base and scored when Andrew Heck was hit by a pitch.  Later in the inning David Popkins scored when Grant Fink advanced to first base on a walk.

Traverse City answered with a run in the fourth, and in the fifth inning Popkins belted another home run, giving Washington a two run edge.

But Traverse City rallied in the top of the seventh inning when Will Kengor hit a two run homer to tie the score.

Ricky Rodriguez hit the game winner when he singled and drove in Jamal Austin.

The Wild Things hosted seven members of the Wheeling Nailers Hockey Team, who have been crowned East Division Champs and will advance to the finals in the ECHL playoffs, prior to the game. 

Washington and Traverse City will meet for the rubber match at CONSOL Energy Park Thursday when first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.   Tickets are available at the CONSOL Energy Park box office.
