CRESTWOOD, Ill. - The Lake Erie Crushers fell into an early 7-0 hole after three innings of Tuesday night's contest against the Windy City Thunderbolts on Tuesday night, as they dropped the opening game of the three-game series at Standard Bank Stadium, in a 10-4 loss.

The Crushers (6-2) have fallen for the second time this season, following a six-game win streak to start the year, while the Thunderbolts (9-1) have now won eight in a row.

Windy City scored three times in the bottom of the first inning, before adding four in the bottom of the third to take a 7-0 advantage, and never looked back.

An errant throw from Colin Feldtman allowed Coco Johnson to reach to start the first inning, and he made his way over to third on a double from Tim Zier. Blair Beck then hit a ground ball to first, and Jose Barraza's throw to the plate in an attempt to get Johnson at the dish was a little late, allowing the first run to score, before Reggie Lawson doubled in the next two runs of the first inning.

Windy City had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the third when Cody Bass belted a RBI single to left, and two batters later, Ransom LaLonde belted a bases clearing, three-run double down the left field line to give the T-bolts a 7-0 advantage.

Lake Erie was able to get on the board in the top of the fifth inning, on a two-out RBI single from Max Casper, but the T-Bolts answered in the bottom of the inning, on a solo homer from Corey Bass.

The Crushers added two more in the top of the sixth inning, to narrow the deficit to five (8-3) on RBI groundout from William Beckwith and Juan Avila, before Barraza brought them within four (8-4) on a solo homer to right-center in the top of the eighth inning, his second homer of the season.

Barraza's bomb was Lake Erie's last run of the game, but the T-Bolts added two more on another long ball in the bottom of the eighth, on a two-run homer to left off the bat of Blair Beck.

Ryan Strombom (2-0) scored the win for the T-Bolts, holding the Crushers to three runs on six hits overe six innings, while Feldtman took the loss after allowing six runs, five earned on three hits over 2.1 innings of action.

Barraza led the Crushers offensively, on a night where five Crushers hit safely at least once. Barraza went 3-for-4 with a double, a single and the solo homer, scoring two of Lake Erie's four runs.

The Crushers will continue their three-game series with the Windy City Thunderbolts at Standard Bank Stadium on Wednesday morning. Right-hander Fernando Gallegos (1-0, 0.00) will start for the Crushers and the Thunderbolts will go with left-hander Chris Chigas (1-0, 1.74). The first pitch is scheduled for 11:35 AM.
