Washington Wild Things News Release

EVANSVILLE, IN-Despite rallying in the seventh inning and collecting eight hits, the Washington Wild Things were defeated by the Evansville Otters 8-4 in game two of a three-game series at Bosse Field. Tim Flight received the mound loss for Washington while Tyler Vail got the win for Evansville.

The Otters started off the scoring on Saturday night in the bottom of the first when left fielder John Schultz started off the game with a lead off homer. Evansville scored another run later in the inning to take a 2-0 lead. The game then went scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Flight surrendered four runs to give Evansville a 6-0 lead.

The Wild Things started to chip away at the lead in the top of the sixth, scoring two runs thanks to RBI doubles from David Popkins and Carter Bell that cut the Otters lead to four. The Wild Things would plate another two runs in the seventh via a passed ball that scored Danny Poma and a RBI groundout by Scott Kalamar.

Washington was held scoreless for the remainder of the game while Evansville regained their four-run lead for the 8-4 final score.

Kolin Stanley made his second relief appearance as a Wild Thing and it was just as impressive as his first, he pitched one inning of relief allowing no hits and striking out two. He now has three IP with six strikeouts.
