Otters Game Preview

July 25, 2015 - Frontier League (FL)
Evansville Otters News Release

Evansville, IN- The Evansville Otters (39-19) are roaring in the second half of the Frontier League season, now having won six of their first seven games and bumping their division lead to two games after their 8-1 win over the Washington Wild Things (25-33) last night.

Trevor Walch was stellar yet again on the mound, going seven innings while allowing just one earned run and the Otters offense exploded for eight runs in the first three innings and never looked back. Dane Phillips drove in three more and the utility catcher/outfielder has now driven in 18 in his last 15 games with three home runs and four doubles.

The Otters will look to continue their torrid pace by sending one of their hottest pitchers on the mound in Tyler Vail (6-2, 4.29). Vail has won his last four starts and has put together a quality start in three of his last four, going at least six innings in each of his last five starts. That includes his last start where despite walking four batters in six innings, he surrendered just three runs on five hits while posting two strikeouts. The Washington Wild Things will counter with left-handed starter Tim Flight (2-4, 3.62). In Flight's last time out he took a no decision by going six innings and allowing three runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and four walks.

The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm CDT with the pregame show featuring Mike Radomski, Bill McKeon and Jake Donnelly to begin at 6:15 pm CDT. With a win the Otters will take their fifth series in a row and it will be the 12th time this season having won the first two games.
