Rockford Aviators News Release

Schaumburg, ILLINOIS - The Rockford Aviators once again used a big seventh inning to down the Boomers in Schaumburg Saturday night. The Aves went off for a 5-run seventh inning for the second time in the series on their way to a 10-2 win. Kyle Brueggemann, who pitched 6 1/3 innings of 2-run ball, got the victory.

Once again the Aviators fell behind early when the Boomers got a run on an RBI groundout off Brueggemann in the 1st. Michael Hur erased the deficit though in the 3rd with an RBI base hit off Boomer starter Eddie Cody that scored Justin Fox.

The score would remain 1-1 until the bottom of the 6th, when Devon Rodriguez and Danny Stienstra tagged Cody for back-to-back hits. Stienstra's double brought in Rodriguez to make it a 2-1 ball game.

The Aviators then opened the floodgates in the 7th. For the second straight game, they put up a 5-spot in the 7th. The inning was highlighted by Anthony Renteria, who took Cody's reliever Hideyoshi Otake for a 2-run homerun, his second blast of the series.

The Aviators would add 3 in the ninth on RBI by Stienstra, Dusty Robinson, and Elijah Trail to bring their final tally to 10. 6 men had multiple hits for the Aviators and every Aviator hitter reached at least once. Stienstra finished with 3 hits and 3 RBI.

The squad closes out its series in Schaumburg tomorrow with a matinee game at Boomers Stadium. Kyle Hassna is expected to go against Peter Gehle in the closeout contest. Start time is scheduled for 1 pm.
