
Wild Things Nipped by Rockford 3-2

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, fell short of a win against the Rockford RiverHawks on Thursday night by a score of 3-2.
Estee Harris gave the Wild Things the lead in the first inning with an RBI that drove in Scott Lawson to make the score 1-0. Doug Thennis was driven home off of a hit by Luis Rivera in the bottom of the eighth to bring the score up 3-2.
Starting pitcher Jhonny Montoya, who took the loss, pitched 6.0 innings and allowed five hits, three runs, three walks and two strikeouts. Mark Williams and Davis Bilardello were the first two relief pitchers of the night before Steve Grife took the mound to finish the game.
The RiverHawks came back strong in the sixth inning when Jake Eigsti tripled to drive in Freddy Parejo. Eigsti later scored off of a hit by Jason James before Matt Greener hit the only homerun of the game to give Rockford the lead with a score of 3-2.
Rockford's starting pitcher Matt Gibbs pitched for 6.0 innings and gave up five hits, one run, one walk and four strikeouts.
