Wild Things end home stand with a 9-2 win over the Sliders

Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things, (12-18) presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, defeated the Midwest Sliders 9-2 in the rubber game of the three game series.

Jacob Dempsey led off the bottom of the second with a triple, scoring on a sacrifice fly by Phil Laurent to give the Wild Things a 1-0 lead. Matt Sutton followed with a double getting knocked in on an RBI single by Kris Rochelle to push the lead to 2-0.

In the third, an error by Slider first baseman Jimmy Baker allowed the Wild Things to add two more on the board. Sutton continued his hot start to the game with a two-run homer to right that put the Wild Things up 6-0.

Chris Demons blasted a solo shot in the sixth and a two run double in the eighth giving the Wild Things a comfortable 9-2 lead.

Leading the Washington offense was Sutton and Demons who both went 2-4 with a homerun, double, and 3 RBI's.

Wild Things starter Brian McCullough earned the win giving up two earned runs over five innings of work giving up six hits, walking none and striking out five. Justin Edwards worked two scoreless innings picking up his first save of the season.

The Wild Things will take on Traverse City Wednesday to start their six game road trip. Broadcast on WJPA 95.3 FM begins at 6:55 with the first pitch coming at 7:05.
