Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti News Release

The Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti fall in the final game of their 12 game road trip 9-2 to the Washington Wild Things. Three errors crippled Sliders pitching as Washington scored five unearned runs.

Washington put two runs up in the second inning from a triple, double, then single to go up 2-0. In the third, the Wild Things broke the game open scoring four runs thanks to a double, walk, error, and two run home run by Matt Sutton.

Down 6-0 Midwest racked three consecutive hits together in the top of the 5th by Bryan Bonner, Stephan Flora, and Jonnie Knoble to cut the lead to 6-2.

Chris Demons added a Washington insurance run by hitting a solo shot in the sixth. After an error and single in the eighth, Demons hit a two run double to put the Wild Things up 9-2.

P.J. Zocchi went three innings allowing two earned runs collecting the loss.

"P.J. pitched alright today," manager Eric Coleman said "It doesn't help when we make errors behind him."

"No matter who you are if you kick the ball around you can't win," Coleman added.

The Sliders head home after the road trip to face the Kalamazoo Kings in a three game series starting Wednesday night at 7:05 at EMU's Oestrike Stadium. Southpaw Kyle Kearcher (1-3, 5.20) will be on the mound for Midwest as they return home.
