Washington Wild Things News Release

Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, earned a 1-0 victory over the Windy City ThunderBolts Saturday night at CONSOL Energy Park.

The crowd of 2,674 saw a brilliant performance from starter Justin Hall, who picked up his first shutout of the season.

Pitching dominated the game for both teams, leaving very little opportunity for either squad to score.

Washington and Windy City combined for only seven hits through the first seven innings, with only one of those hits being an extra-base hit.

Tyson Corley took the ball for the ThunderBolts, pitching seven and a third in an outstanding performance. Corley allowed only four hits during his outing, and also fanned five. Despite his great performance, Corley picked up his seventh loss of the season.

Not to be outdone, Justin Hall was also on top of this game. A stellar performance from Hall, pitching a complete game shutout to earn his fifth victory. Hall allowed only five hits and struck out five in his second complete game of the season.

The Wild Things were able to break Corley in the eighth after he walked Vinnie Fayard and allowed a single to Darian Sandford in the following at-bat. Corley handed the ball to Shane Zegarac, who allowed Gus Benusa to reach on a bunt single to load the bases with one out.

Jovan Rosa stepped to the plate and hit a high chopper to second, allowing Fayard to score from third plating the first run of the game.

Washington led 1-0 heading to the ninth.

Hall finished his outstanding performance with a perfect ninth inning to seal the deal for the Wild Things!

The Washington Wild Things and Windy City ThunderBolts will close out their series tomorrow night at 7:05. Tomorrow's contest will also feature post-game fireworks.
