
Otters Set Bosse Field Record with 8,120 Fans in Walk-Off Win over Gateway

(EVANSVILLE, Indiana) - The Evansville Otters recorded a walk-off hit for the second consecutive night, defeating the Gateway Grizzlies 8-7 on Saturday at Historic Bosse Field.
The Otters also set a Bosse Field record wih 8,120 fans in attendance on Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
Evansville trailed 5-1 early in the game only to tie the game on a two-run home run from designated hitter Dan Killian in the fifth.
The Otters then pulled ahead on a solo home run from infielder Luis Parache in the sixth. Parache finished the night 2-for-2 with two walks, and two runs scored.
Trailing 7-6, Gateway tied the game in the top of the seventh inning and kept an even score until the bottom of the ninth inning.
After back to back outs, center fielder Matt Sheely was hit by a pitch, bringing first baseman Nick Schwaner to the plate. He hit a ground ball to third that was picked up but thrown wildly past first base. Sheely scored all the way from first base, sealing a come from behind 8-7 win for the Otters.
Evansville has now won the series, improving to 38-44 this season. The loss drops Gateway to 48-35.
The winning pitcher is David Kubiak (1-1), who recorded five strikeouts in just 1.1 innings. Fellow reliever Richard Barrett (1-4) takes the loss after allowing the game-winning run in the ninth.
The Otters will look for their third sweep of the season on Sunday with left-hander Matt Zielinski (6-6,4.32 ERA) on the mound against righty Tim Brown (10-2, 2.19). First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. CDT at Historic Bosse Field.
