
Wild Pitches Key Baysox Victory

Akron, OH - The Bowie Baysox (5-8) scored two runs off wild pitches as they beat the Akron Aeros (7-4) 4-2 on Tuesday night.
Jacob Pettit tossed a season-high seven innings and allowed just two runs, one earned on seven hits while striking out three to earn his second win of the season.
The Baysox got out to the early lead in the first inning. Buck Britton led off the game with a single, went to second on a throwing error and third on an L.J. Hoes groundout. Then with Zelous Wheeler batting, Britton scored on a wild pitch to give the Baysox a 1-0 lead.
After Pettit threw three shutout innings to begin the game, the Aeros got on the board in the fourth. Jared Goedert led off with a double and went to third on a single by Chun Chen. Goedert then scored on a sacrifice fly by Adam Abraham to even up the score at 1-1.
The Baysox took the lead back in the fifth inning. Jonathan Schoop hit a one-out double and with two outs Buck Britton walked. After Bryan Price replaced Aeros starter T.J. McFarland, Hoes hit a two-run triple. Then with Wheeler batting, Hoes scored a wild pitch to give the Baysox a 4-1 lead.
In the seventh, the Aeros got a run back. Chen led off with a single and went to third when Abraham reached on an error. Ryan Rohlinger then hit into a double play and Chen scored to cut the lead to 4-2.
T.J. McFarland got his first loss of the season going 4.2 innings and allowed three runs on four hits.
The Baysox will finish up their seven-game road trip tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. They will send the lefty Cole McCurry (0-1, 4.35) against the Aeros' RHP Steven Wright (1-1, 1.59).
The Baysox return to Bowie on Thursday, April 26 for a seven-game homestand that includes Pie Day and appearances by current and former Washington Mystics and Wizards players.
