Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators snapped their two-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 4-0 win over the Altoona Curve. Tuesday night was the Jeff Mandel show as he pitched and hit the Sens to the win.

Mandel pitched seven shutout innings in earning his first win of the season. He struck out four and scattered four hits while walking just one. Two of his four strikeouts came in the first inning after a lead-off double off the bat of Robbie Grossman, who was left stranded at second with some nifty pitching. He pitched around another lead-off double in the fifth, stranding Jeremy Farrell at second base.

With the game scoreless into the fifth, Mandel singled in Destin Hood with two outs giving the Sens a 1-0 lead. Then in the seventh with two-outs and runners at second and third, Mandel did it again, driving in two more with a single.

Chris Rahl capped off the scoring with a single in the eighth to drive in Jesus Valdez giving the Sens all they would need.

Hector Nelo pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth innings to earn his first save on the season. Harrisburg improves to 8-5 on the season while Altoona falls to 5-6.

The final game of the series and the homestand is Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. with LH Danny Rosenbaum on the mound against LH Nathan Baker for the Curve. The game can be heard beginning at 6:40 p.m. on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website and iHeart radio and on your iPod and iPad.
