SERIES AT A GLANCE: The Flying Squirrels will look to get back on the winning track in the second game of their three-game series against the Reading Phillies at The Diamond tonight. Last night, Troy Hanzawa went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in the game-winning run with an RBI single off Richmond reliever Austin Fleet (0-1) in the top of the 7th as the R-Phils took the series opener 5-3. The Flying Squirrels outhit Reading 11-8, but went just 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position and left a season-high 10 runners on base. Tommy Joseph posted his first multi-hit game at the Double-A level with a 2-for-4 night that included a pair of doubles and an RBI. Tyler Cloyd (2-0) allowed 10 hits, but just three earned runs in six innings to earn the win for Reading. The Flying Squirrels went 5-5 against Reading in 2011 including a 2-1 mark at The Diamond. Richmond is 13-18 all-time against the R-Phils and the club is 7-7 all-time in the River City. The two teams will meet 16 times in 2012, 7 times in Reading and 9 times in Richmond. Following this three-game series on the opening home stand, the R-Phils will not return to Richmond until July 7th-9th.

The next meeting between the two teams will be April 24th-26th at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading.

TODAY'S PITCHERS: LHP Jason Stevenson vs. RHP Trevor May Stevenson: Makes his third start of the season for the Flying Squirrels tonight. In his last start, Stevenson allowed five hits and two unearned runs along with two walks and five strikeouts in seven innings pitched against Altoona Thursday. He earned his first win of the season in Richmond's 7-3 triumph in the 2012 home opener. Additionally, Stevenson went 1-for-3 and drove in a run, collecting just his third career hit and first career RBI. Stevenson, a former Montreal/Washington farmhand returned to baseball following a five-year hiatus for personal reasons that began after the 2005 season. The 30-year-old southpaw signed with the Chico (CA) Outlaws of the independent North American League in 2011 and posted an 8-0 mark with a 1.68 ERA in 9 appearances, including 8 starts and earned a spot in the NAL All-Star Game. After signing with the Giants, Stevenson went 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA in his lone start with Richmond as he allowed just one earned run in seven innings pitched at Altoona on Sept. 5. He also posted a 1-0 mark with a 5.56 ERA in two starts with Triple-A Fresno. Stevenson boasts a 35-38 record with a 4.56 ERA and three saves in 154 career minor league appearances, including 64 starts. He was originally selected by the Expos in the 12th round of the 2000 June Draft out of Sacramento City College. Stevenson resides in Redding, Calif.

May: Makes his third start of the season tonight. In his last start, May allowed four hits and one earned run with a walk and six strikeouts in seven innings pitched at Harrisburg Thursday. He earned the win in Reading's 4-1 victory. The right-hander spent the entire 2011 campaign with Advanced-A Clearwater. In 27 starts, he went 10-8 with a 3.63 ERA. May led the Florida State League in strikeouts (208), ranked second in complete games (3), finished third in innings pitched (151.1) and eighth in ERA (3.63). As a result, he was selected as both a Mid-Season and Postseason All-Star and twice earned FSL Pitcher-of-the-Week honors (6/20- 6/27 and 7/4-7/11). May also won the Paul Owens Award as the top pitcher in Philadelphia's minor league system in 2011. He entered the 2012 season ranked as the #1 prospect in the Phillies organization. In 76 career minor league appearances, including 71 starts, May owns a 29-18 record with a 3.55 ERA. May was selected by the Phillies in fourth round of the 2008 June Draft out of Kelso (WA) HS and signed for a $375,000 bonus.

MORE MAYORA: After going 1-for-4 with an RBI last night, Daniel Mayora has hit safely in seven of his last nine games. Mayora has five multi-hit games of the season, which ranks second on the club behind Chris Dominguez, who has six multi-hit games. In his first season in the Giants organization, the veteran third baseman is hitting .355 with six RBIs in seven games.

PICK FOUR: Right-hander Austin Fleet picked off Reading center fielder Tyson Gillies at third base in the top of the eighth inning last night. It was the fourth base runner picked off by a Richmond pitcher in the team's 12th game this season. Lefty Mike Kickham picked off Altoona shortstop Brock Holt twice on Saturday. Catcher Johnny Monell has also picked off a runner on the bases. Last season Flying Squirrels' pitchers picked off 26 runners on the bases.

SLOW SEVENTH: Through 12 games, the Flying Squirrels have yet to score a run in the 7th inning. Richmond has scored at least one run in every other inning. With Reading's run in the top of the seventh last night, the Flying Squirrels have now been outscored 11-0 in the seventh inning this season.

HOME COOKIN': The Flying Squirrels claimed victory in three of their first four home games of the 2012 season, which continues a trend that has emerged through the club's first two seasons; winning consistently at The Diamond. Last year, Richmond went 45-26 at home. In 2010, the Flying Squirrels went 37-33 at home. In two-plus seasons, Richmond is 85-60 (.586 winning percentage) at The Diamond, living up to the "Defend The Nest" mantra, which was created by Johnny Monell last season.
