
Wild Pitch in 8th decides game for Pigs

(Allentown, Pa) - A wild pitch by Louisville Bats (47-68) pitcher Joel Kuhnel (2-1) in the bottom of the eighth inning broke a 1-1 tie in favor of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (55-58) as they won 2-1. Jose Pirela scored the winning run for Lehigh Valley after reaching on a fielder's choice.
Logan Morrison put the IronPigs on the scoreboard first with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning against Sal Romano. IronPigs starting pitcher Dan Straily started out the game by retiring the first 11 batters before Christian Colon hit a single with two outs in the top of the fourth inning.
An error by Phil Gosselin allowed Jose Siri to reach in the top of the sixth inning. He would score on a fielder's choice by Alfredo Rodriguez that tied the game at 1-1. Straily would turn in seven innings and recorded seven strikeouts while issuing one walk and giving up one hit.
JD Hammer (2-1) earned the win by pitching a scoreless top of the eighth inning, while Austin Davis earned his third save of the season. He pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
The IronPigs play for the series sweep on Thursday evening against the Louisville Bats. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
