Syracuse Mets News Release

Durham, NC - The Syracuse Mets didn't pick up a hit on Wednesday night in a 2-1 loss to the Durham Bulls. Syracuse Mets starting pitcher Corey Oswalt tied a career high with nine strikeouts in the loss.

Durham (64-50) started the scoring quickly in the bottom of the first inning. With one out, Kean Wong hit a 3-2 pitch over the right-field fence to give Durham a 1-0 lead.

The Bulls added to their lead in the third. Nate Lowe hit a two-out solo home run to extend the Durham advantage to 2-0.

Syracuse (57-58) finally scored a run in the top of the eighth despite still not tallying a hit. Rymer Liriano led off the inning with a walk, and Ali Sanchez was hit by a pitch. Braxton Lee then moved the runners to second and third base with a sacrifice bunt. Rajai Davis followed with a groundout to shortstop, but Liriano scored from third on the play to cut the deficit to one, 2-1.

Durham reliever Hoby Milner pitched a scoreless ninth to secure the no-hitter for the Bulls. Artruro Reyes started the game for Durham and pitched three no-hit innings. Ricardo Pinto threw four and 2/3 no-hit frames, and José Alvarado retired the lone batter he faced before Milner threw a perfect ninth.
