FORT MILL, S.C. - May 9, 2007 - Charlotte Knights catcher Wiki Gonzalez provided plenty of offense Wednesday night in a 9-5 win over the Richmond Braves. The nine runs scored was a season high for the Knights. Gonzalez finished the night going 2-4 with 2 HR and 5 RBI for the Knights. His 2nd home run of the game gave Charlotte a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the 6th. Knights DH Ernie Young went 2-4 with 2 RBI.
Jason Childers (1-0, 0.00) picked up his first win of the season with the Knights after facing only 2 batters in 2/3 inning of work. Jeff Bennett (0-1, 7.45) took the loss for the Braves after giving up 4 ER in 1 1/3 innings.
The Knights and Braves continue their series Thursday. RHP Charlie Haeger (1-5, 5.40) will start for the Knights. RHP Jonathan Johnson (1-0, 3.12) takes the mound for the Braves. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
