Charlotte Knights News Release
FORT MILL, S.C. - May 9, 2007 - The Charlotte Knights are taking a stand with singer Sheryl Crow in helping the environment by "wiping out" unnecessary toilet paper (TP) usage. The Grammy-award-winning singer wrote recently on her website: "I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required."
In an effort to help push this issue, the Knights will be hosting TP Night at the Ballpark on Thursday, May 24 when the Knights host the Ottawa Lynx at 7:15 p.m. Fans who bring a roll of toilet paper will receive $1 off their admission ticket. Every roll of toilet paper will be donated to a local area shelter. At every restroom, bathroom attendants will be on hand to remind patrons about their TP usage. Fans will also be able to win prizes by playing TP Trivia between innings. Finally, throughout the night the Knights will play nothing but Crow's music.
"We agree with Ms. Crow that the issue of wasting toilet paper just stinks," said John Agresti, Charlotte Knights Director of Media Relations. "We're not going to take this sitting down; we're going to clean up this mess one roll at a time."
The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at www.charlotteknights.com for more information.
