TROY, NY - Rowan Wick extended his streak of consecutive games reaching base to 24, tying a franchise record, as the Spikes used a 15-hit attack to defeat the Tri-City ValleyCats, 9-2, on Saturday night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.

Wick tied a record set by David Rubinstein in 2008 and 2009 with a third-inning in field single. The Spikes (26-9) slugger then added a run-scoring double in the fourth inning to up his RBI count to 38, just 12 shy of the State College single-season record in that category with over half the season remaining.

The Spikes opened up early on the ValleyCats (23-12), scoring five runs in the first inning. Danny Diekroeger plated a run for State College with a double, and Collin Radack doubled home two runs with two outs in the inning to cap the big frame. State College added three more runs in the fourth with Wick's double as well as RBI singles from Robelys Reyes and Jake Stone.

Stone's base hit extended his hitting streak to 14 games, the longest such string for any Spikes player this year.

Dewin Perez stared and tossed four scoreless innings for the Spikes, but was lifted after walking four batters and allowing two hits. Perez also struck out five.

Jeff Rauh (3-0) picked up the win in relief as the next man in for State College, allowing both Tri-City runs on two hits while striking out one. Tyler Bray and Nick Lomascolo then finished the victory for the Spikes with two shutout frames apiece, racking up a combined eight of the 14 State College strikeouts.

Darren Seferina went 3-for-6 with two doubles and two runs scored for the Spikes. Diekroeger and Alex De Leon each contributed multiple hits to the State College offense, which tied a season high for hits in a single game.

ValleyCats starter Randall Fant (0-1) took the loss after yielding eight runs, five of them earned, on 11 hits and a walk over 3 2/3 innings. Fant also recorded three strikeouts in the effort.

Derek Fisher's RBI double brought in the first Tri-City run in the fifth inning.

Sunday, the Spikes and ValleyCats face each other in the middle game of their three-game set at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The 5:00 p.m. matchup will feature right-hander Fernando Baez (2-0) on the mound for State College against Tri-City right-hander Austin Chrismon (3-2).
