Wichita Adds Goaltender

Wichita, KS- The Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League announced Tuesday the call-up of goaltender Scott Darling from the Mississippi RiverKings of the SPHL. The Lemont, IL native will be in the line-up Wednesday night when the Thunder take on the Arizona Sundogs.

Darling (6-6, 230-lbs) was a sixth round draft pick of the Phoenix Coyotes in 2007, taken 153rd overall. The second-year pro appeared in 18 games for Mississippi, going 7-10-1 with a 3.25 GAA and a save percentage of .892. Darling has won his last three starts, compiling a 2.60 goals against and a .909 save percentage. This will be his second call-up as he was recently brought up to the ECHL's Florida Everblades.

Prior to turning pro, Darling attended the University of Maine, where he appeared in 54 games. In his two seasons as a Black Bear from 2008-10, he was 25-20-6 with a 2.93 GAA and a save percentage of .893. He turned pro in 2010, signing with the Louisiana IceGators of the SPHL.

The Thunder head west to face the Arizona Sundogs on Wednesday night for the first time this season. Wichita will not return to the Air Capital until Sunday, January 22nd against the Texas Brahmas.
