Missouri's Charlie Effinger Named Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week

GLENDALE, AZ (January 17, 2012) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Missouri's Charlie Effinger has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the period ending January 15, 2012. This marks the second time that Effinger has won the weekly award (Oct. 31).

The Belleville, Illinois entered the weekend knowing he was going to be in net for all three Missouri games after their second goaltender had been placed on team suspension. Effinger went on to make 29 saves in a victory over the Allen Americans on Friday night and then sipped all 36 shots he faced in recording his second shutout of the season on Saturday night in Bloomington. He went on to start his third game in less than 72 hours on Sunday and after falling behind 3-1, stood on his head to lift his team to a 4-3 shootout win over Fort Wayne. Effinger finished the game with 44 saves ending the week with a 3-0 record.
On the season, Effinger is tied for third in the league with 14 wins and sits with a 2.84 goals against average and a .921 save percentage.
