Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (January 17, 2012) - Brian Bicek scored both Evansville IceMen goals and Bryan Gillis stopped all 36 shots he faced as the IceMen blanked the host Quad City Mallards 2-0 Tuesday night.

Bicek broke alone into the Mallard slot to wrist home the opening goal at the 14 minute mark of the first period. He scored the insurance goal from the left wing boards at 7:59 of the third period. The Mallards could not put the puck past Gillis despite outshooting Evansville in all three periods and enjoying five power plays.

"I liked what we did 5-on-5, we jammed them up and took away a lot of their speed," said Mallards head coach and general manager David Bell. "But this is getting to be a special teams league and sometimes we feast on the power play but other times it's famine."

The Mallards will visit Evansville for a rematch Friday night before returning home to take on the Fort Wayne Komets Sunday at 4:05 p.m. Fans can bring their skates and join the Mallards on the ice after each of the Flock's Sunday afternoon home games this season.

Single game tickets for all Mallards regular season home contests- including Sunday's game- are now available. Fans can contact the Mallards at (309) 277-1364 or tickets@myqcmallards.com for more information about tickets.
