Mavericks' Effinger Named Goaltender of the Week

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - Missouri Mavericks goaltender Charlie Effinger was named the Oakley Central Hockey League (CHL) Goaltender of the Week for the period ending January 15, 2012. It marks the second time this season Effinger has won the honor. In recognition of his achievement, Effinger will receive a special gift from Oakley.

Effinger finished the week with a 3-0-0 record and made 109 saves on 116 shots for a .940 save percentage. He beat the Allen Americans on Friday, January 13 with 29 saves on 33 shots, and stopped all 36 shots in a 3-0 shutout win on Saturday against the Bloomington Blaze. On Sunday, in his third game in three nights, Effinger stopped 44 shots including four of five shots in a shootout to beat the conference-leading Fort Wayne Komets.

In total, the Belleville, Illinois native is 14-7-1 this season with a 2.84 goals-against average and .921 save percentage. He ranks tied for third in the CHL with 14 wins and his save percentage is second among all goaltenders.
