WHL Names Daniel Hauser Goaltender of the Week
October 23, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Wenatchee Wild News Release
WENATCHEE, Wash. - Two outstanding performances this past week have earned Wenatchee Wild goaltender Daniel Hauser recognition from the Western Hockey League as its outstanding goaltender for the week of October 16 to 22. The WHL has awarded Hauser its latest Goaltender of the Week award, the team's third weekly honor from the WHL this season and first Goaltender of the Week recognition.
Hauser earned one win this past week, posting one of the signature performances of his WHL career on Friday, stopping all 39 shots he faced in a 4-0 win over the Vancouver Giants. He even factored into the team's offense with an assist in the second period. Despite taking the loss Wednesday in a 2-1 decision at Tri-City, Hauser was excellent in that game as well, stopping 26 of 28 Americans shots.
His shutout win Friday was the 11th in his WHL career, and his 81st win, putting him one shy of second place on the team's all-time list and within four wins of Nathan Lieuwen's franchise record. The 2004-born native of Chestermere, Alberta is about to reach another career milestone, with his next appearance set to be his 100th in a Winnipeg ICE or Wenatchee Wild uniform - he will become only the eighth goaltender to play 100 games for the organization.
Hauser enters the new week with a record of 3-5-1-0 for the season, along with a goals-against average of 3.56 and a save percentage of .906. He and the Wild embark on another busy week this week with three games, beginning on Tuesday when the Kamloops Blazers make their first-ever visit to Town Toyota Center. The opening puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Tickets for that game and all Wenatchee Wild home regular-season contests are on sale now at 509-888-7825, or by visiting the team office at Town Toyota Center. Updated news and information on Wild hockey are always available through the team's website and on the team's social media platforms on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
