Allen Americans News Release

TEMPE, AZ (January 18, 2011) - The Central Hockey League announced today that Allen's Chris Whitley has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the period ending January 16, 2011.

In recognition of his achievement, Whitley will receive a special gift from Oakley. To learn more about the wide range of Oakley products, visit www.oakley.com.

Whitley wasted little time in showing his top form after spending six weeks on the injured reserve. His first game since November 26 was a 29-save shutout against the Americans' rivals from the East, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. He followed that up with a 24-save effort in a 7-3 over the Laredo Bucks on Saturday night. He finished the two-win week with 53 saves on 56 shots and a 1.50 goals against average.

On the season, the 6-1, 215-pound goalie is 11-3-0 with a 2.91 goals against average and a .906 save percentage. In his second professional season, the Oshawa, Ontario native has been nearly unbeatable posting a 42-11-4 record.
