Vancouver Whitecaps FC News Release
VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Wednesday that striker Myer Bevan has been loaned to the club's United Soccer League affiliate Fresno FC through the end of 2018.
"Myer has shown potential since signing with us," head coach Carl Robinson said. "He's a hard working young player who already has international experience for his country. He will benefit from getting game time and he will be working with terrific coaches down in Fresno. We will keep a close eye on his progression."
In their first season of USL competition, Fresno FC are under the guidance of general manager and former Canada men's national team coach Frank Yallop. Bevan will be coached by Adam Smith and the Foxes technical staff that also includes former WFC striker and Residency coach Robert Earnshaw as an assistant.
Bevan recently spent three months on loan with Swedish Division 1 Södra club Husqvarna FF, recording two goals, five starts, and nine appearances across all competitions.
The 6-foot striker signed a first-team contract in December 2017 after spending a season in the USL with Whitecaps FC 2, where he finished with three goals in 11 starts and 13 appearances.
The native of New Zealand, who also holds Canadian citizenship, has two goals and six caps for the Kiwis in international competition.
As part of the agreement with Fresno FC, Whitecaps FC have the ability to assign players to USL contracts to play at the California club, while all players on the roster will be monitored and evaluated for MLS opportunities, as well as call-ups on the USL Short Term Agreement.
