MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced on Wednesday the acquisition of American forward Quincy Amarikwa from the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for midfielder Dominic Oduro. His acquisition will be confirmed upon receiving his international transfer certificate.
"Quincy is an energetic striker with a lot of experience within MLS. He will be another experienced player who will add depth to our forward line," said Impact technical director Adam Braz. "Dominic is a player that contributed to the team's success in 2015 and 2016. We thank him for his service both on and off the field and we wish him the best of luck."
Amarikwa, 30, is a 10-year MLS veteran who has accumulated 24 goals and 19 assists in 190 regular season games, including 91 starts, and 9,121 minutes played. Drafted by the Earthquakes in 2009, he also played with the Colorado Rapids, Toronto FC, and the Chicago Fire over the course of his career.
He has earned two assists in 14 games and 269 minutes with the Earthquakes this season.
He also took part in three MLS Cup playoff games, all three as a starter, and scored three goals in six Concacaf Champions League games. He also scored one goal in three Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup games.
He was nominated for the MLS Comeback Player of the Year award in 2017, after suffering a serious knee injury in 2016.
Oduro, 32, played four seasons with the Impact, registering 15 goals and six assists in 89 regular season games, including 57 starts, and 5,170 minutes played. He notably helped the Impact reach the Concacaf Champions League final in 2015, and the MLS Cup Eastern Conference final in 2016.
