White Strikes Out Six As Spitters Drop Game Two

Traverse City, MI - The Traverse City Pit Spitters lose game two of the series against the Kenosha Kingfish, 4-3. The Pit Spitters record drops to 27-16, and 5-3 in the second half. The Kingfish improve to a 19-23 overall record and 2-7 in the second half.

Both offenses were quiet until the top of the second inning when Vytas Valincius drew a leadoff walk for the Kingfish to get their offense going. After advancing to second on a Blane Schmitt groundout to short, Brandon Heidal drew a walk to put runners on the corners with two outs. A wild pitch moved both runners up to second and third for an RBI chance for Dom Listi. Listi came through, hitting a single to left field driving in Valincius and Heidal to give the Kingfish a 2-0 lead. Heidal came in clutch again in the fifth inning, hitting a single to center field and continued the offensive response for the Kingfish. After Listi dropped a sacrifice bunt to move the runner up to second, Brandon Nigh singled to center field to score Heidal to extend the Kingfish lead to 3-0. The Pit Spitters offense finally got going in the bottom of the sixth, as Cooper Erikson and Evan Orzech hit back-to-back singles to lead off the inning. Parker Brosius hit a single to left field driving in Erikson to cut into the Kingfish lead 3-1. The Pit Spitters response continued when Camden Traficante doubled to right field scoring Orzech and Brosius to tie the game up 3-3. The Kingfish offense didn't stay quiet for long as Listi and Night hit back-to-back singles to lead off the top of the seventh. Henry Brown then singled up the middle scoring the go-ahead run to take back the lead at 4-3.

The Pit Spitters drop to 27-16 on the season and 5-3 in the second half, while the Kingfish improve to a 19-23 overall record and 2-7 in the second half. Pit Spitters starting pitcher, Nathan Dvorsky threw five innings, giving up three runs on two walks. Hayden Brown threw an inning and a third of relief, giving up three hits, walking a pair and giving up one run, and being credited for the loss. Mitch White came in and threw the final two and a third innings, giving up three hits, striking out six.
